lyrics

He’s married to his job, but he also has a wife, and her name is Helen, and it tears him up inside when she scribbles the page of the poem he’s reading. She doesn’t let him read. She only tears up the pages. He works for the bank, but his boss is about to fire him. Well it’s too bad, too bad, too bad. You know he doesn’t mind you. He waits for his break. Eats lunch in the basement. He sits in the vault and reads about H-bombs in the paper. And climbing the steps, he exits the vault, wipes dust from his glasses. He calls out for his wife, calls out for some help, and wanders the wasteland. He knows he alone, he knows he alive, but he wishes he wasn’t, so he picks up a gun, and he puts it to his head, but he notices a library. And it’s too bad, too bad, too bad. Well it’s too bad, too bad, too bad. You know it’s not fair. You know he had time. You know it’s not fair. You know he had time. Well it’s too bad, too bad, too bad, and it’s not fair, not fair, not fair. And it’s too bad, too bad, too bad, and I’m sorry for your misfortune.
