lyrics

I still love rock and roll, and we both grew up on oldies, but I think that she likes folk more nowadays, but I can't listen to those songs; I don't need a new reminder of the thing we found then lost and found again, and I'm trying to move on, but it's hard, you know, when I'm breaking down in the grocery store.

When I pick up my guitar and search the soul that I don't believe in, I keep finding things that weren't there before, 'cause there's no sorrow any more, no more fuel to try to hurt you; I don't feel the need to prove a single thing, and I'm trying to move on, but it's hard, you know, when I think about it every day.

She taught me to listen. She taught me to sing. She taught me to listen to the words that I sing.

So I'm writing her a song, and the words, they're coming freely, and it feels different now than it ever has before, but if I'm doing this thing right, then who knows who's gonna hear it? Is it wrong for me to write it anyway? And I'm trying to move on, but it's hard, you know, and I think about her every day.

She taught me to listen. She taught me to sing. She taught me to listen. She taught me to sing. She taught me to listen to the words that I sing. Sing... Sing... Sing...
